When Impossible Foods updated their branding, they needed a new digital platform to match. But this was not a straightforward redesign. The brand guidelines introduced multiple distinct color schemes tied to each product line: red for Beef, pink for Sausages, yellow for Chicken. Every corner of the platform needed to flex accordingly, without the design system falling apart at the seams.
The timing turned out to be fortunate. Figma had just launched Variables, and this project was a perfect opportunity to put them to work. By building the design system around Variables from the ground up, we created a single, adaptable foundation that could shift its entire visual identity depending on the product context. One system, many expressions, and a workflow that made future updates a matter of changing a value rather than rebuilding a component.
